With Windows 8/8.1 The Product Key on preinstalled Operating Systems (HP, Acer, etc) is embedded in the BIOS in the Motherboard, so that the lost and/or worn C.O.A. Sticker problem is no more.
When you reinstall it will pick up the Product Key and activate the system automatically.
If it does not, follow these steps:

If this is the case, they should have never released the win8 release preview ! Now I don't even have a genuine copy of windows.
Suppose I somehow reinstall win7, then how will I be able to use my product key ( since I've bought the pro pack) ? Or is installation CD required ?
First of all:
The Windows 8 Pro Pack can only upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. Even if you had qualifying version of Windows installed, you would not be able to install the Windows 8 Pro Pack.
Second
Microsoft made absolutely clear who the Windows 8 Release Preview was for.
In order to install Windows 8 Pro upgrade, you will first need to reinstall your original version of Windows that was running on your computer prior to installing the Windows 8 Release Preview. Whether that is (Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7). After installing it, you can then do an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. The Windows 8 Release Preview does not support upgrades to Windows 8 Pro.
Reinstall Windows XP:
